The Future of St. Agnes School

In their January 2015 Report, the TCDSB identified that Blessed Trinity school (BT) is, unfortunately, under utilized, noting that BT is currently about 40% full. That Report identifies two options to address the under utilization situation at BT.

One option is to relocate BT students to St. Agnes. The other is to relocate BT students to St. Agnes and St. Gabriel's.

This matter will be discussed tonight (Tuesday, Feb 24) at our CSAC meeting, by our Trustee Mike Del Grande. The meeting starts promptly at 7pm, at St. Agnes.

Please try to attend this very important meeting and circulate this information within the St. Agnes parent community. We want everyone to be aware of the potential impact to our great school.

Thank you.

CSAC Scholastic Book Fair

Dear St. Agnes Parents,

As you know, the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to St. Agnes from Feb. 9th - Feb. 12th. Excitement is running high at the school as it has been a number of years since our last Fair.  Briefly,  the Scholastic Book Fair is similar to a mini travelling bookstore that brings the latest and greatest children's books right to our school.  Giving students easy access to fun, engaging reading material is the best way to develop their love of reading and interest in books.

What parents may not know is that every book purchased at the Book Fair helps put great new books and teachers' resources in our classrooms and in the St. Agnes Library. This is a wonderful opportunity to refresh and replenish our stock and make for a grand re-opening of our Library in the early spring. Some things to look for at this years Book Fair:

Granting Wishes:

Check out our Wish List Wish Wall. Classroom teachers will have a sneak peek of the books at the fair and make a wish list of book titles they would like to add to their classroom libraries. These lists will be on display on a Wish Wall during the Fair.

Offer the Gift of Reading - purchase a book from your childs teachers wish list and have a personalized bookplate adhered to the inside cover of the book as a memento.

Family Draw: - Fill out the ballot below for a chance to win the Half & Half draw - Scholastic provides $50 in free books to be divided between the winning family and the childs classroom teacher. The draw will be made this Friday, Feb. 6th with the prize to be redeemed during the Book Fair.

Overall, the St. Agnes Book Fair is an excellent way to get new resources, promote literacy, and get students interested in reading. We do, however, need you to make this a success. Volunteers are needed to help out at the fair for just a few hours in the morning or afternoon. The evening of Feb. 12th will also need volunteers from 5:30 - 8:30pm. If you are able to assist, please fill out the form below and someone will be in touch to confirm.

We look forward to a successful event and look forward to seeing you there!
