Highlights of the November 22 CSAC Meeting
What follows are edited excerpts from the Meeting's Minutes (posted once the Minutes are approved at the next meeting). The November 22 Minutes were approved at the January 18 meeting. The actual Minutes are available in the school library.
Mr. Shea provided news and updates on many items, including confirmation on the receipt of a grant from the Ministry of Education, to be applied to hosting a parent education night on internet safety; news that the school’s windows are to be replaced in the near future and a replacement of the stair railing is pending; details on the Christmas concert and details of the upcoming Lockdown practice.
The CSAC budget for the current school year was reviewed, discussed at length and voted on by all 23 parents and teachers in attendance. Input on expenditures was received from school staff and considered in concert with the historical school year expenditures. A Budget of $14,186 was approved, the details of which are attached to the Minutes (in the school library, available for review by parents/guardians of St. Agnes students, during school hours).John and Angie attended the Catholic Parent Involvement Committee conference in early November (attended by CSAC representatives from nearly every Catholic primary and secondary school in the GTA). John commented that one of the things he took away was how proud we should be of our Council. We have excellent attendance and input given our small school size.
The Fundraising Committee presented a detailed proposal for increased governance of future events sponsored by CSAC. Details of the proposal are included in the Minutes.
There was a question and discussion regarding the rational for the recent move of the Northwood after school program (from the kindergarten area to the library). It was agreed that additional communication between parents, Northwood and the school was needed.
